Title: Blighted Race

Morkskittar - October 22, 2006 02:48 AM (GMT)
The race began gloriously with a loud bang of fireworks. The creatures all set off at a run, hissing and snarling. The flying beasts took to the air.

On the ground, Blipquick leaned against a wall, sipped some Skavenade, and watched his beast. How beautifully he had trained the little rat... his chest swelled up in pride as Makari dodged every attack made against it. Rat Ogres couldn't hit it, and he was faster than the other rats. it wasn't long before Makari pulled into the lead. The other beasts shrieked their disaproval, bu they were soon bogged down by aerial combats, and Makari was soon far ahead.

The real action on the ground began when the air creatures began falling. Beasts yelped in pain as winged Ogres and rats fell on them from high, still snarling and struggling. Kirby loped along at an easy rate, Divik struggling to keep up on the sidelines. The Squig had a stoned look on his face as he snapped up everything that moved. He was unstoppable, his odd legs ingoring the mounds of corpses surrounding him and leaping the hurdles with ease. Divik eventually gave up trying to keep up with his beast, and dropped back.

On the ground, one rat moved far faster than all the rest. Within a few seconds, the rat/Packmaster hybrid known as Blidge scuttled quickly along, cackling madly. He was unstoppable. Everyone else was too slow. The rat was humming to himself still as the bullets began to fall. Small plumes of dust rose up all around the beast as countless Ratling guns discharged their ammo. The rat swore (an unusual sight), and tried to move faster. Alas, it was to no avail. The rat felt bullets begin hitting his body, and the rat slowed to a halt, and lay down, still.

The line of corpses along the ground stretched seemingly endlessly. Kirby kept loping forward, snapping up everything he saw. A path of clear ground followed the Squig. He was behind the rest of the pack, but not by much. The sounds of them hacking eachother (and their Packmasters) to bits reached Kirby's ears loudly. The Squig turned a corner and was suddenly in the midst of a massive melee. Kirby began salivating. So much food... the Squig let his instincts take over. It leapt into the fight, swallowing all (but remembering to chew).

The judges were bored. They had been sitting in their booth for an hour. They had heard that all of the flyers had been taken down and that the ground creatures were all fighting eachother. One idly oiled his pistol, while most of the others played dice. Only one judge was looking out at the track...

"Look-look! There!" The judges glanced up warily, expecting a prank, but their eyes widened as a flying rat darted towards them. The watchful judge smirked. 'Looks like-like Scrokk's rat, that does. The other rats nodded agreement, to stunned to speak. One had survived...

Makari howled truimph and circled the judges' tower until Scrokk came to collect him.

It was another hour before the judges saw any more action. The watchful one was again the only one watching, and even he almost missed the tiny speck of dirt kicked up by an eight-legged rat. Nothing else followed. He called his companions to attention. they all peered at the rat, looked at written descriptions and drawing, and finally ascertained that it was Skeet, Fleider Krinkelsniff's rat. The rat crossed the line quickly, and the judges sounded the end horn. The round was over.

It was a bloody scene. fully two-thirds of the course was covered in coprses, and the few survivors gleefully ate them. The most prominent predator was Kirby, who the audiencerats swore has doubled in size.

OOC: Random, it seems as if the dice are beginning to like you. :P EVERY SINGLE FLYING CREATURE MISSED when they tried to hit you. Not a single one. Wow. RandommaN wins the flying title.

As for the grounds, it was Stinky. His small, unobtrusive beast went unnoticed by most of the beasts. In the middle of the race, a brawl between two beasts became a major roadblock, and only Skeet managed to pass through unhanrmed. Kudos to the dice for that. Kirby unfortunately let his instincts take over, which led to a loss but a mighty good meal.

Congrats to all! Stinky and Random are winners!
