Fester Spike Preliminaries

Players:

Kill-kill
Friar Divik

Kill-kill and Popurri
The preliminary rounds always went quickly. The Grand Tournament Preliminary in Fester Spike was set up as most preliminaries are, albeit on a much larger scale. Countless arenas had been set up, and a judge sat at each arena, ready to judge Moulder performances. tension was in the air...

The starting pistol went off, its sound amplified by Skryre technology.

The gates swung open, and Kill-kill and his four armed monstrosity Popurri emerged.

On the other side, a grizzled looking Moulder leading a three armed and three legged Rat Ogre entered. His eyes narrowed as he looked at Kill-Kill.

Popurri's huge spike in his torso gleamed dully under the Warpstone lights, and Kill-kill's opponent didn't miss the spike. He forced his creature in an arena-skirt, trying to get to a place where the torso-spike would be able to do the least damage.

Kill-Kill wasn't a fool. He kept Popurri under control and near the edge of the arena. He prodded his beast so that it was always facing the tripod opponent. The grizzled Moulder met Kill-Kill's gaze and grinned cruelly.

Suddenly, a howl from a neighboring arena threw the Tripod into a Frenzy. It suddenly leapt forward, regardless of his Master's commands. Kill-Kill's grin grew, but he held his beast back skillfully, knowing that the judge was looking for handling skill as well as design.

The Tripod was almost upon the pair. Just as its arms came up to attack, Kill-Kill jabbed his beast's back with the butt of his whip handle. Popurri's chest and stomach flew forward, and the opposing Rat Ogre fell right onto the gleaming torso blade.

Knowing that the flailing beast would cause come damage in its death throes, Kill-Kill hurriedly ran around the pair and whipped Popurri until he backed off, shaking the convulsing tripod off his spike. Kill-Kill then rbought his hand down, and Popurri allowed himself to fall forward, the blade breaking the Rat Ogre's neck.

Triumph flushing the ex-Stormvermin's face, Kill-Kill turned around to see his opponent. The Moulder was moving toward the opposite end, not even looking back.

OOC: A Victory for Kill-Kill, but was his style good enough to get him into the next round? Popurri and Killy are both unscathed. Next Up:

Friar Divik and Bigfoot:

The pistol went off, and the two opponents faced eachother. Frirar Divik's beast, Bigfoot, hardly fit through the door. The Four0Limbed RatGiant stood straighjt and roared. Many of the audiencerats fled. The Giant sure was a huge, hulking beast.

His opponent was a rather young-looking Moulder with a rather average looking Rat Ogre. Divik grinned. He knew EXACTLY how to take care of younglings like this one.

The Friar's whip shot out and wrapped itself around Bigfoot's leg. Divik yanked hard, let his whip uncoil, and cracked it back. Bigfoot wobbled dangerously, then fell, crushing the Rat Ogre and his Master. Divik glanced up at the judge. He could swear a look of amusement glittered in the judges eye... Divik certainly has used style... a very UNIQUE style...

OOC: Another UNSCATHED Victory! Now...

Scrokk and Cyborg Rooster:

As the start pistol went off, Scrokk had a feeling his match would be quick. He knew there was some kind of bonus for the most quickly win match, and he aimed to get it.

Looking at his creature, Scrokk realized that Neek must have felt the same way whenever he used Chuppise, aware of its power that wasn't obvious on the outside. Scrokk grinned, leaned against the arena wall, and watched. If he didn't direct his beast, the judges would surely award him more points...

It was fast. The chicked merely glared at the six-limbed, sawed monstrosity. One eye was robotic, which worried Scrokk for a second, and then he saw that the beast was a Tri-Clops, and had two other eyes. As Scrokk watched, the enemy's beast's eyes widened, and the Rat Ogre fell over, almost crushing the Moulder beneath it. Scrokk grinned. A quick match... it seemed that none could stand up to the robotically enhanced Cockatrice.

OOC: Fastest match in Fester Spike... you will almost surely advance!

All Players here will advance to the next round! Congrats!

Mount Silverspear matches tomorrow!

Mount Silverspear Preliminaries
(OOC: Sorry for the delay here...)
Players:

Ratticq of clan Gnawkin
Drachau

Ratticq and Crunch

In the bowels of Mount Silverspear, the Grand Tournament Preliminary round started with an artificial subterranean landslide. The defeaning knows drowned out the opening of the gates and the release of the beasts.

Ratticq of Clan Gnawkin and his winged Rat Ogre, Crunch, emerged facing a hideous Kroxigor-based beast. It has five arms, each equipped with a glowing warpblade. Not a beast to be scoffed at.

Crunch took to the air, and Ratticq moved forward, his massive size frightening many of the audiencerats. Ratticq would try not to fight in order to gain more 'Style' points, but he would intervene if needed.

It wasn't needed.

Crunch dove down from the sky, his four bladed limbs extended. He hit the Kroxigor straight on. The lizard's warp-blades rent flesh and scales asunder. Ratticq grinned as crunch ignored all of the blows dealt to him. the enemy Moulder and his beast both gained a stupefied expression right before the Krox lost his look as the upper part of his body fell off of the lower part.

Crunch stood shakily, and roared in triumph. Before the beast collapsed and lost Ratticq points, the Moulder hurried his beast off of the battlefield.

OOC: Not many beasts can stand that many impales and survive! Impressive. Crunch was wounded pretty heavily, and a Skalm is needed.

Drachau and Skig

The Elf-thing Drachau and his chained Rat-Ogre Skig performed well. The opposing Spawnbeast had obviously been created by a novice, as it was a poorly done path-job, and the Moulder had added in a neck and head where there shouldn't be one. A very exploitable weakness.

Skig managed to get the charge on the beast, and threw his chains over the Spawn's neck and pulled. The beast struggled, but could not rip the chains off. The spawn died slowly, all of the breath sucked out of him. the judge didn't seem that impressed... but Drachau had won.

OOC: Lucky likkle git! :P People who get to fight against novices... good battle though! It would have actually been difficult had you failed to throttle him...

You both advance to the next round! I wonder if anyone will lose.... :P

Tomorrow (seriously this time!) is the Neek and Vilepaw match. get in your bets!

Black Chasm Preliminaries

Players:
Vilepaw
Neek

Vilepaw and Phasemonkey VS. Neek and Robot Chicken

The pistol went off, and the battle began. This was definitely the most corwded arena in all of Black Chasm; two Masters pitted against eachother in the first round. A rare sight, and this meant the stakes were very high. Bets were passed all around in the audience, and an air of extreme tension filled the stadium. Who would win?

The two opponents emerged, and immeditely Neek's robotic Cockatrice took to the air on massive wings. Vilepaw stretched his own wings but stayed on the ground, glaring at the challenger. How dare he defy Vilepaw?

Vilepaw's beast, Phasemonkey, was a goblinoid frog covered in spikes and blades. A mech-eye hovered in the air near him, and warpstone shards covered his body, connected by strange wires of many colors. Murmurs in the corwwd grew. What had Thrask Vilepaw cooked up this time?

Roaring, Neek himself charged at the large and ferocious Vilepaw. As he ran, an arc of lightning shot from the lightning generator in his arm and struck Vilepaw. Vilepaw staggered, a glazed look entering his eyes. Suddenly, the eyes cleared. Thrask growled in response, and swung his arms in unison as Neek attacked. The Overempire Moulder deftly dodges the blows and attacked with his own blade, an evil light shining in his eyes.

Neek's Robot Chicken spiraled into the sky, and vanished out of sight. the whisperings of the crowd grew stronger as they talked. Had the Cockatrice fled from Vilepaw? What was wrong with Neek? Was he drugged?

Neek continued to battle with Vilepaw viciously, while Phasemonkey stood starting up at where the Cockatrice had vanished. All of a sudden, the hovering mech-eye shot upwards and Phasemonkey vanished. Disappeared. Ceased to exist. The crowd gasped, and the judges leaned forward, suddenly interested. Vilepaw and Neek didn't notice, locked in fierce combat, none seeming to gain the upper hand.

Both beasts were gone: it was no simply a battle of Moulders. Out of the blue, Vilepaw's troll arm suddenly descended on Neek. A sickening crunch filled the air as Neek collapsed. A vicious kick sent the Moulder flying away from Vilepaw, bleeding and twisted. A round object rolled out of his pocket, and an unused pistol lay at his side.

Thrask Vilepaw turned his eyes up to the sky, scanning for a beast. A dot appeared high in the sky. Vilepaw squinted, then widened his eyes as he saw Robot Chicken descend. A vicious dive, straight at Vilepaw. the Moulder tried to flee the lightning fact fall, but failed. The Cockatrice stuck him hard, toppling him over. Wasting no time, the Cockatrice slashed at him with a vicious talon, its bionics whirring feverishly. Vilepaw gasped as blood flowed out of his wounds, then stopped as it closed over. He would win.

Vilepaw, pinned beneath the cawing Cockatrice, remembered to close his eyes. he did so just in time, as the Cockatrice turned and glared at him. Robot Chicken franticalle tried to pry open Vilepaw's eyes, but the Moulder suddenly twisted and knocked the Cockatrice off. It squealed as Vilepaw struck out blindly and made contact with the beast, Confident of his discovery, he pushed forward, only to find nothing there. the Cockatrice had taken to the air, and it dove down upon Vilepaw again. The Moulder fell over and the crowd gasped as talons and blades plunged deep into Vilepaw's chest. the Cockatrice crowed triumphantly as it lifted off, revealing its blades coming out of Vilepaw's stomach. The glimmering metal of the impaled blades foretold doom.

Vilepaw's body, struggling feebly, slid off the blades. The sudden loss of weight shot the Cokcatrice upward and out of control, and Vilepaw his the ground with a jarring crack. The arena was silent except for the beating of wings.

Suddenly, Vilepaw shuddered, and shapes moved below his skin's surface. His wings flared, and he stood. Those audiencerats near to him gasped as they saw strange, worm-like jaws close his wounds and mend his bones.

Thrask opened his eyes and howled a challenge to the skies, so garbled that none could understand. Vilepaw took off, and slammed into the Cockatrice, still gaining control, from below. The beast twitched, then fell from the air, hitting thr ground hard. Vilepaw triumphantly descended, but gasped as the cockatrice's mech-eye swiveled. Neek's beast leapt out of the way, and Vilepaw struck the ground hard.

Rolling to his feet, Vilepaw closed his eyes again and struck out in front of him. The chicken's Plague Censer displaced air with a whoosh as it whizzed by Vilepaw's head, trailing green gas.

A pop suddenly filled the air and Phasemonkey reappeared above the Cockatrice, his mech-eye fast descending. The spiked GobboFrog landed on top of the Cockatrice, making sure not to look at the beast's eyes. He jabbed a blade into Robot Chicken's back, and the beast shrieked in pain. Phasemonkey vanished as the Cockatrice tried to return a blow.

Roaring, Vilepaw's blind strikes suddenly hit. The surprised Cockatrice scarcely had time to react as Vilepaw's blows rained down. Blood began to flow from the Cockatrices wounds.

Phasemoneky reappeared with another pop, right next to Robot Chicken. Before he could attack though, the beast's flail whipped around and Phasemonkey vanished again.

The battle continued for a good ten minutes without the return of Phasemonkey. The Cockatrice was beginning to get the upper hand...

Suddenly, the Cockatrice shrieked horribly. Blades appeared out of its chest and stomach. It staggered horribly, and fell over on its side. The blades vanished and Phasemonkey reappeared next to Vilepaw. Thrask grinned. The match was his.

Hearing a groan behind him, thrask turned to see Neek standing up, shaking on his legs. He looked at his beast and his eyes suddenly blazed with a cold fury. He raised his lightning generator, and green lightning shot out of it at Vilepaw. It struck the Moulder, and he fell over dizzily. neek roared angrily and charged Phasemonkey.

Unbeknownst to the fighters, the Cockatrice was moving. It stood again, and glared at Phasemonkey, whose back was turned. it shakily opened its wings and took to the sky.

Vilepaw heard the flapping of wings, looked up and grimaced. It still wasn't dead! Vilepaw stood shakily and spread his wings. He took off and rammed the weakened Cockatrice. It gasped, then fell to the ground, spiralling dizzily. Vilepaw made a soft landing as he hit the ground.

Phasemonkey had vanished, leaving Neek to violently hack at air. Pitfighter Bouncers appeared and tried to lead Neek away, but the enraged Moulder would not move.

Phasemonkey reappeared, and suddenly two shots rand out. Two pellets exploded in the ground near Phasemonkey. Vilepaw's eyes suddenly swung around the cros, looking for the assassins. neek stopped fighting and followed Vilepaw's example. Suddenly, a third shot rang out and caught Vilepaw in the chest. He howled, then fell backwards as blood pooled all around him. Seconds later, the wounds were healed by strange-looking worms, but vilepaw remained unconscious. Neek was led off the pit, and the Cockatrice was brought with him. Phasemonkey vanished until Vilepaw woke up, and they left together.

OOC: That was so bloody amazing! The cockatrice and Vilepaw both took so much frikkin' damage and survived! I have never seen so many regenerations in a single game. each one probably suffered enough wounds to kill three or four Rat Ogres! Neek had the upper hand through most of the battle, even when he was knocked down. there was some awful luck on the fighting capabilities on Vilepaw's part (for the first four rounds of combat, he only rolled 1's, 2's, and 3's... I shortened that part down a bit until he actually hit :P ) and Robot Chicken wasn't that much better. But the regenerations when the death started was amazing! the turning point was Phasemonkey's appearence inside the Cockatrice. If that hadn't happened, I'm pretty sure Neek would have won. It seems that everyone is growing used to these sight of instant death beasts.... congrats on a great and interesting and amazing match, both of you!

This match also wins the record of the longest match of all time.

Kaffir Preliminaries

Players:
Scarskrex
Chris
WoombaWoomba

Scarskrex and Quickjaw
The pistol went off, and the gates opened. Scarskrex and his beast, Quickjaw, entered the battlefield. The Ratwolf Quickjaw immediately charged forward, moving quickly. He slammed into his opponent, a four-armed Rat Ogre, and began biting and clawing viciously. Roaring, the Ogre brought his arms down on Quickjaw. The Ratwolf tried to dodge the blow, but only partly succeeded, taking off part of the Ogre's flesh as it was hit in the side.

Quickjaw spaw out the flesh and attacked again, sinking fangs into the Ogre's stomach. The Ogre suddenly turned purple and gasped, falling forward on his knees. It shievered then fell all the way down. Quickjaw danced away. Seconds later, the Ogre had turned a sickly green.

OOC: Yay for uberpoison. ^_^ Victory, but you needeth a Skalmeth.

Chris and Li'l John

This match was another close one. As the start pistol went off, Li'l John flipped out and fled from his Moulder, who chased after him. Cursing, Chris had to follow. He faced a Rat Ogre similar to Li'l John: normal, but with three bladed arms. The two beasts locked in fierce combat, none gaining the upper hand. Chris halted near his beast, watching the other Moulder warily. No-one moved.

Finally, Li'l John howled in triumph as the beast he was fighting fell over backwards, dead when he landed. Crhis grinned as his opponent stalked away. Victory was his.

OOC: Nice job. It was close, with nobody wounding anything for about seven rounds, then all of a sudden Li'l John managed to take out the other guy in one turn... Congrats.

Doctor Woombenstein and The Creature

This match was even faster. It was the Doctor's opponent who faltered, losing his beast's control. It charged forward, anger blazing in its eyes. Woombesntein simply smiled. At the last second, The Creature stepped to the side and smashed all of his limbs down on the creature. It exploded in a crimson shower of blood.

OOC: Wow, that sidestep trick really did the trick! Nice thinking and mind-controlling the dice there! :P

The Preliminaries are done. See the new sign up thread in Chitters for the next round.
