Title: The tale of Caseph part I
Description: the first part of my story

Caseph - January 9, 2008 02:25 PM (GMT)
Chapter One
The Escape

I was very confused when my father burst into our burrow and told me to grab the bag that he kept by his bed. I grabbed the satchel next to his Dad’s bed and approached my obviously worried father who was different from most skaven because he actually cared about his son more then himself.
“Caseph hide-hide you must,” his father hissed as his whiskers twitched. All of a sudden the door of the burrow burst open with a black-cloaked figure standing in the doorway who bared his fangs menacingly.
“RUN-RUN CASEPH RUN TO MY LAB!” He drew a knife from his side to face the intruder who had drawn 2 blades both dripping with green vile liquid. I ran to the back window which was already opened and leapt through it wrapping my tail onto a thin pipe that supplied my house with water. I used that to pull myself and tried to leap from pipe to pipe instead of falling directly onto the streets of the Hell Pit which would have probably killed me. I finally reached the pipe closest to the street and jumped down into the busy street and tried to blend in with the crowd at least until I could get to my fathers lab near the arena that was staging The Rejected fights. I was truly alone… that was the last time I saw my father.

Chapter 2
Paranoia
I stopped and walked into an abandoned burrow to rest. I sat down against the wall and examined the contents of the bag my father had given me and looked what I had as my means of survival at the moment. Who ever wanted my father attacked meant I was probably next inline to be dead, you don’t send an eshin warrior after someone and expect them to still live. In the bag there was 150 warpstone tokens, a trio of daggers, a short sword strapped to the side of the bag., 2 sticks of bread, a sack of water, a vile of green liquid presumably poison, and a note.
Caseph,
If you are reading this the worst of my fears have happened. For reason’s I can’t explain through means of words, The Underlord wishes you and I dead. Be on your guard there are a few people you can trust out there but not many in our world so you will have to watch your own back for the most part. I have provided you a means to survive till you can get to my lab to re- supply. Coat your blades in poison give no mercy because from here on out paranoia will be an asset. In this note I have also enclosed a key to my office look inside the drawer on the top right side and there you will find a key. Unlock the room that leads to the holding cell In there you will find someone you can always rely on.
I had tears welling up in his eyes but he heeded his father’s warning and suppressed his feelings.
I have to get to the lab to re-supply these supplies aren’t going to last me much longer I thought to himself...
I coated all the blades in poison and then strapped them to his belt as well as the sword to his right side and then moved into the darkness that was the hell pit.

Chapter 3
Captured
I was walking and approaching the lab. I slowly but surely made it to the door. I approached the eye scanner and opened my left eye and held it before the scanner a beam passed over my eye and a mechanical voice said Identity accepted as the metal doors opened with the sound of metal steel floors. There was the sound of tinkering coming from the center of my father’s lab. I peered around a corner and saw a skaven that looked more machine then rat. He had dark fur and was configured with all sorts of gizmos on his arms and his back. He was accompanied by a automaton that constantly was making wiring noises and was outfitted with several firearms. He was rummaging through my fathers lab papers reading everything, I assume he was another person sent by the under-lord to kill me, this was the moment my father was talking about, time to show no mercy kill or be killed. I sneaked up behind him and then I raised a poisoned blade and attempted to strike but I was batted against the wall by the giant automaton that had been busy checking other parts of the lab until then. I hit the wall across from the lab and I heard ribs crack I squealed in pain I then passed out.

Chapter 4
New Moulder, New life

I awoke found myself strapped to an odd contraption that I could tell wasn’t belonging to my father and belonged to this strange skaven. I looked around we weren’t even in my father’s lab anymore I had no clue where we were.
“Where am I-I?” I asked my chest and head hurt miserably.
“Curious you are indeed young rat-ratling? If you must-must know you are in my laboratory.” The old skaven said grinning a grin that seemed less malicious then expected, almost soft.
“Who are you?” I asked my chest smarted painfully again.
“Young rat-rat I believe you are no in position to ask questions but once again I will humor you-you, I am Moulder Twitch, also known as Mr. Skyre.” Twitch replied.
“What am I doing here-here?” I asked suddenly a machine started wiring and my body went stiff and my head started to throb with agonizing waves of pain.
“You attempted to attack me in the lab of someone who had rigged my match so I am going to learn what you know-know through my new machine, it transmits your memories into mine-mine.” He replied a mad grin of success on his face.
My head stopped hurting in immense pain but went back to its aching and soreness.
“Twitch, I have heard-heard that name before, my father had said it when someone dropped of a large sum of warpstone tokens to rig your match.”
“Your memories show no knowledge of this rats name or facial features.” Twitch hissed angrily.
“My father gave me a location according to him the lab of the person who paid him is located somewhere in Marienburg located somewhere in a place called Rattig’s.” I said hoping giving info would save my life; murder wasn’t that uncommon of a thing in Skaven society.
“Well now you have told me everything I need-need to know, should I kill-kill you little rat? Hmmm, How many years are you young-young one?”
“I am of 2 years,” I said.
“Hmmm, I shan’t kill you little-little one. I have much distaste for slaying those who-who haven’t even come of age. Then what should I do wipe your memory clean and let the streets of the hell pit consume you?” He said while tinkering with something on his desk.
“I now see how my father fell in love with this world of mouldering, this lab is quite-quite marvelous.” I looked around and saw all sorts of fantastic creatures in their cages.
“You think-think so little rat-ratling?” Twitch said with a curious and intrigued look on the old rat’s face.
“Indeed I do.” I said looking at the fantastic works of mouldering around me.
Twitch stroked his snout in a calculating and hopeful manner as he looked at me.
“What is your name young rat?” he asked
“Caseph,” I replied
“Caseph, Answer this-this hypothetical question. You have seen the types of beasts used in-in the world of mouldering correct?” he said with a look of emotion I thought I would never see in his face, kindness.
“Yes-yes.” I squeaked in reply.
“If you were making you first beast what would you do giving you had-had a 2 beasts to work with of your-your choice and-and a good lab?” He asked in a calm fashion.
“I would take-take a giant rat and a salamander (fire spitting lizard) and cut the head of both. I would then-then-then quickly take warpstone paste-paste and paste the salamander head and put it on the giant rat body then sedate it as well-well as adding the spikes and tail from the salamander body to the giant rat then attach blades to the end of the tails and also try to preserve the rest of the body in a vat. I-I would then find some sort of firearm possibly a ratling gun to the back of the beast and wire it to the brain so it can fire on will, also customize the gun to have a-a larger ammo capacity so there is no need-need to reload. Given minimal supplies that is what I would do and then upgrade later-later.” I was wondering why the old rat was asking me these questions.
“Caseph I am-am taking a liking to your personality and-and mouldering style…” My mind went ablaze with thoughts but the most prominent was that I may not die today and this may turn out for my better good.
“I have decided if-if you accept since you have seen my lab and since I don’t like killing runts as well and have taken a liking to-to you, so rather then killing you I shall take you as my apprentice I will keep you close at all times till-till you earn my trust. In return for your assistance I will get you into a great-great career of mouldering. Do you-you accept?” As he said that I heard unclasping sounds and my restraints were undone and I was able to stand, my broken ribs hurt like nothing else I had ever experienced and I was a little dizzy. I kneeled before the moulder.
“I would be honored for you to take me as your apprentice,” I said humbly.
“Then My apprentice you shall be young rat-rat.” He said grinning.
Time to start my life anew, but is it a better life? …

For next time…
Caseph finds himself needing to recover his fathers secret from the lab, What could it possibly be? What will Caseph’s life in the school be like? All these questions that will be installed in the next part of my story.
